Camping

Class A Camp Area
This is the most popular camping area. Staying at this area will give the camper the following options: 33 full service hook-up campsites, 118 electric hook-up only campsites, and 10 walk-in tent only campsites with no hook-ups. The Class A Camp Area entitles the campers who are registered at this area to use the camp commissary and game room, swimming pool, shower houses, flush-type restrooms, trailer waste station, plus a basketball and volleyball court. The nature center where the summer naturalist programs begin is also located in this area.

The entrance to the Class A Camp Area is on State Route 3, south of Loudonville. See Class A Camp Area map.

Group Camp Area
This primitive style camp area is designed for organized groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, etc. There are four group campsites that are rented individually. Each group campsite will accommodate up to 25 people. Only tents are permitted in this area, no camping trailers. Water and pit-type latrines are available. Shower house and hook-ups are not available in this area. In the center of the Group Camp Area is a large fire ring for group activities at night.

The entrance to the Group Camp Area is located at the end of Ashland County Road 939, next to the Vista Point Picnic Area. See Mohican State Park map.

Because of the popularity of the Class A Camp and the Group Camp areas, especially during the warm weather months, you are highly encouraged to reserve your campsite.  Reservations can be made six months in advance of the date that you would like to camp. You can make an online reservation, or call 1-866-OHIOPARKS.

Class B Camp Area
All of the campsites in the Class B Camp Area are close to the Clear Fork Branch of the Mohican River. These campsites are ideal for tent and small trailer campers who prefer primitive style camping. There are 24 campsites that do not have any type of hook-ups. There is no shower house. Water and pit-type latrines are available. To use the Class A campground facilities, you will be charged a visitor's fee that is good for the entire day.

The entrance to the Class B Camp Area can be found by driving through Hemlock Grove Picnic Area which is next to the Covered Bridge. See Mohican State Park map.

Campers can not reserve a campsite in the Class B Camp Area. These campsites are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis. At the entrance of this camp area is a bulletin board with instructions on how to self-register for your campsite.
