Welcome to Mohican State Park

Mohican State Park and the adjacent State Forest are located in the heart of Mohican Country...Ohio's great vacation region.
The park is comprised of 1,110 acres with 5 miles of the scenic Clear Fork Branch of the Mohican River running through it. The recreational opportunities available to the park visitor include fishing, hiking, picnicking, camping, cottages and a resort lodge.
The Mohican Memorial State Forest surrounds the park with 4,795 acres. Hunting, hiking, and bridle trails are available to the forest visitor.
Mohican State Park is located in southern Ashland County bordered by State Routes 3 and 97, close to Loudonville, Ohio. The park can be easily accessed from Interstate 71.

MOHICAN VALLEY EAGLE WATCH • January 9, 2010
The Mohican and Kokosing River watersheds are prime eagle watching areas. Join a local eagle expert who will teach you proper Eagle etiquette and will help understand the history, ecology and life of the bald eagles in Ohio.

MOHICAN WINTER FEST • Jan. 15 & 16, 2010
Olympic Ice Carvers will be making beautiful ice creations! There will be ice carving demos and many ice sculptures to enjoy and other snow related activities.

WINTER HIKE AT MOHICAN STATE PARK • January 17 • 12:00 PM
Enjoy winter's beauty while watching for the elusive bald eagle. Enjoy warm soup & refreshments after the hike.
Meet at the Class A campground Camp Store to start your choice of 3 hikes, 1 mile kids hike, 5K and 10K. Dress appropriately especially warm and dry footwear.

Winter Water Shut-off
The campground water to shower houses and bathrooms has been shut off for the winter. There is a Port-a-Jon available for camper's use at the pool parking lot. If you are a self contained unit the dump station and potable water can still be used. The water will be turned on around April 1st, weather dependent. Winter camping rates are effect as of November 1.

Off-season Reservations
If you are a camper and would like to come camping in the off season, there is no need to make a reservation. There is plenty availability, please follow the self registration instructions on the side of the check-in station.
If you would like a cottage, a reservation is highly suggested due to the popularity of Mohican State Park cottages. To make a reservation please call, 1-866-644-6727 or go online at www.ohiostateparks.org

Non-electric Class A - $21.00/night
Non - electric Class B (Covered Bridge) - $16.00/night
Electric - $26.00/night
Full Hook-up - $34.00/night

Park Administrative Office on State Route 97: 
Monday - Friday 8 to noon and 1 to 5

Camp office:
Friday - 1p -8p
Saturday - 11a - 7p
Sunday 8a - 3p

Canoeing and Horseback riding - Mohican State Park does not offer rental on horses or canoeing. Please visit Loudonville-Mohican CVB website for more information on contacting these private businesses. http://www.loudonville-mohican.com/activities-recreation.html

  • If you do own your own horse there are several campgrounds in the area that allow horse camping. Malabar Farm State Park takes reservations for 10 of the 15 non-electric sites, call 1-866-644-6727 or go-online at www.ohiostateparks.org. Pleasant Hill Lake Park has recently added horse camping in a beautiful location by the Pleasant Hill Lake, for more information please call 419-938-7884 or email them at pleasanthill@mwcdlakes.com. Mohican-Memorial State Forest allows over night camping by organized groups only.
